Toddler Open Gym: Every Friday morning from 9AM-9:45AM at Riverside Gymnastics in The Dalles (2221 River Road, near the Windseeker). Cost: $5. Kids will enjoy obstacle courses, trampoline, the pit, a big parachute, music and more. Call 541-993-8625 for more information. - Every Friday

Mid Columbia Juried Art Exhibit: The Dalles Art Center sponsors this event for local Middle School and H.S. Students. The exhibit will run 2/5/13 through 3/2/13. Entries will be accepted 1/29 through 2/2. Only one entry per student will be accepted. Students must reside and attend a local mid Columbia school. Entries must be the students own work. Flat work must be neatly presented and "hook" ready. All sculptures and 3-D art must be able to be displayed on a pedestal. Entry forms can be found at The Dalles Art Center, any local Middle/High School, or online at A closing reception will take place at TDAC (220 East 4th St., The Dalles) on Saturday, March 2nd from 2PM-4PM. Camp Meadowlark: Outdoor Education: Kids ages 8-12 will track wild animals, dissect an owl pellet and learn which plants are consumable for eating. Kids will also learn the importance of green spaces within our community. This is a great opportunity for those with interest in science, art and adventure! Spring Break Glass Blowing Class: (For Ages 6-14) Attendees will make cool pendants and cabochons using multi-layer fusing. Creativeness is encouraged! Spring Break Skateboarding Camp: For novice skateboarders ages 6-11 years old. Focuses on how to fall properly to avoid injury, proper stance, pushing and turning. Beginning Acting: Kids in 3rd-5th grades are given the opportunity to enjoy Friday early release theatre workshops taught by Brenda Green, that run from 10/21 through 2/17 (12 in total). The children will discover the secrets of stage through theatre games and exercises. Upon completion, the kids will perform a short play to be enjoyed by a real live audience! Time: 1:30pm-2:30PM. Location: Dry Hollow Cafeteria. This class is open to all children of all schools. Cost: $55 for kids in district, $60.50 for children out of district. - 10/21 through 2/17

Museum Week: You're invited to attend "Museum Week" at Maryhill Museum of Art October 11-13 and 18-20! Maryhill hosts hundreds of regional 3rd/4th graders for a day of exploration and fun. Kids will look at portraits, make their own artworks and be entertained by storytellers.

The Dalles Youth Basketball: Parks and Rec is currently registering 2nd-6th grade kids to play. Season runs late October through January. Cost: $30. Call them at 541-296-9533 or visit their site for online registration.

Roller Hockey Scrimmages: This is an informal event (No teams, uniforms, etc) just fun for kids to practice together. Check out for updates. Ages 4-8 will play from 9AM-10AM. Kids 9+ will play at 10AM. Location: Riverfront Park Arena in T.D. Cost: FREE! - 10/1 through 10/29

Early Release Art! Carol Lindsay shares her love of art and color with kids on early release days in The Dalles (9/23, 9/30 and 10/7) in the Dry Hollow Elementary cafeteria. Kids will explore vibrant paints, the many uses of paint brushes and mixing paint. All materians are provided (including paint shirts). This event is limited to the first 20 children to register. Ages: 1st-5th grades. Time: 1:30PM-3PM. Cost: $20 for in district kids and $22 for out of district. Stop by Parks and Rec (414 Washington Street, Suite 1D, The Dalles) to sign-up. NFL Punt, Pass and Kick: For girls and boys from ages 6-15. PPK is a tremendous nationwide event that the NFL puts on each year for kids to come out and compete in a non-contact format. You will need to pre-register online at Location: Kramer Field in The Dalles. Time: 10AM. Cost: FREE! - 8/13

Camp Meadowlark: Track wild animals and identify native birds all within our very own wetlands! Kids will learn about the role that green spaces play in our community. Camp Meadowlard is for kids ages 8-12. Camp runs for 3 days from 9AM-1PM, July 25th-27th at Riverfront Park in The Dalles. Campers must pre-register at the Parks and Rec Office. High Tech Treasure Hunting: (Thompson Park) Learn how Geocaching works! Participants will learn how to operate a GPS receiver and play the game successfully. Equipment is provided! You must pre-register at the Parks and Rec office on 4th St. in The Dalles. Time: 10AM. Cost: $5/Family. - 7/23

Youth Fishing Trip: For ages 8 and up. Kids 14 and older will need a fishing license. No experience necessary. We'll teach your child the basics of fishing along with wilderness survival skills and what to do if they get lost in the woods. Event takes place at Kingsley Reservoir near H.R. Kids Gardening Camp: Wasco County Master Gardeners will teach your 8-12 year old child about vegetable gardening giving them a connection to the environment, the food web and the community!
